Diana Vela Almeida is a postdoctoral fellow at the Department of Geography, Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU). Her current research aims to develop innovative community-based methodologies for citizen engagement and participatory procedures for access, control and management of natural resources in extractive conflict areas in Indonesia. Diana holds a PhD in Natural Resource Sciences from McGill University in Canada and a Master´s degree in Forest and Nature Conservation Policy from Wageningen University in The Netherlands. Her main areas of interest are the political ecology and ecological economics of natural resource governance, extractivism, plurinationality and social movements.
